JOB SUMMARY:
The Patient Care Technician (PCT) is an essential part of Parker County Hospital District’s Telemedicine Program and is an integral part of the day-to-day operations of the School Based Health Clinic. The PCT is responsible to the Director of Telemedicine and its clients for providing patient care and other related technical and clinical support activities as directed. The position requires daily contact with patients, vendors, clinic staff, insurance carriers and administrative staff.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Working under the Medical Director and the supervision of the Telemedicine Director, the PCT ensures a patient’s needs are being met in a friendly, courteous, professional, and efficient manner in the clinic setting.
  • Perform functions that are in the scope of practice of the certification held and the protocols given.
  • Utilize telemedicine according to the policies and procedures.
  • Perform lab procedures according to clinical protocols-Rapid COVID19, Flu and Strep
  • Perform patient procedures according to clinical protocols.
  • Maintain accurate and complete patient documentation in EMR.
  • Enter information into regulatory databases as required.
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Respond appropriately to emergency situations.
  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly duties as assigned.
  • Perform training and student preceptor duties as assigned.
  • Provide monthly reports as requested by Telemedicine Director

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Must possess excellent organizational skills.
  • Should be self-motivated.
  • Strong command of the English language both written and oral
  • Ability to deal professionally, courteously, and efficiently with the public.
  • Must be dependable and able to remain calm under stress.
  • Maintain confidentiality as required for all patients (HIPAA), District, and employee information.
  • Should possess knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Must maintain a good working relationship with clinic staff.
  • Exhibit high ethical and professional standards.
  • Appropriate understanding of computer office hardware (i.e., PCs, tablets, laptops, 10-key) and software (i.e., Microsoft Office, EMR, email, internet)

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Medical Assistant, LVN, Paramedic or RN required with current State of Texas licensure or certification.
  • Two (2) plus years clinical setting experience preferred.

Salary:
  • $22.45 - $28.06
